For the teachers among us — interesting paper on newbies using Unity to teach game development. They seemed to be surprised that using an existing game engine made the students more successful.
Um, duh? If you want to teach game development, use game tools. If you want to teach game engine development, *that’s* when you build it from the ground up.
Making a game engine != making a game.
(Even though I’m kind of ragging on them, it’s an interesting paper.)
