Interesting article (linked below) with actual numbers for the launch of a retro-style shooter by an indie gamer (he basically did the entire game by himself).
One thing I found really interesting was 9 weeks after launch the Android version had 500 more sales than the iOS version (it’s a $1.99 game) — but the Android version was featured on the front page of Google Play for about a week, while the iOS version wasn’t featured at all.
The iOS snob in me says, “See? Just target iOS.”
But the businessman in me says, “And make just half the money?!? Pfft!”
So despite the appearance (or fact?) that making sales is easier on iOS, ignoring the Android side of things might not be the best move. 😉
Fortunately for us Corona SDK devs, targeting both platforms is much easier than for some folks.
