Okay, it’s been 10 days since my last blog post about Horse Crazy and you can get a LOT of stuff done in 10 days, especially using something like Corona SDK.
However… (insert innocent look here)
The last week was mainly filled with other commitments, so it was only yesterday that I jumped back on HC. But looking at the calendar and what still has to be done, I think we’re on track for a July 29 upload to the App Store.
Exciting Times
Today I got an email from Dwayne with the first draft of the artwork for the game and it was SO cool to flip through the pictures! Dwayne sketches things out first — I believe on paper — and then scans them to his computer where he inks and colors them.
Here’s a look at some of the sketches he sent over (the one with color is going to be the app icon):
And here’s a look at a couple of the screens — the stalls where you choose your horse, and the tack store where you’ll be able to “buy” more tack and supplies:
When I get some inked and/or colored versions of those screens I’ll post them so you can see the progress.
But for now I’m grabbing those sketches, resizing them to what I need, and I’m putting the app together with those graphics. I should be able to get most of the app done before I get the final artwork, and then all I’ll need to do is replace the graphics and we should be good to go.
Note: Okay, the final graphics may not be a “drop in replacement” because it’s likely some things will change slightly in size, position, etc., so I’ll probably have to do some tweaking. But I’ll still save a ton of time by working on the code before the artwork is completely done.
After I clear it with Dwayne I’ll give you some of the “business details” of our agreement — that may help you decide whether to partner up with someone.
Partners?
Yes, Horse Crazy is a 50/50 partnership between the two of us. When I do the “biz” post I’ll explain the biggest reasons I approached Dwayne with the deal instead of hiring out the artwork and keeping the upcoming billions of dollars in revenue for myself.
By the end of the weekend I should have a video walkthrough of the code of the game. I’ll post it when it’s ready.
Man, that is exciting. That artwork is really perfect for what you are doing. I’ve been deep in the trenches, my clock started ticking for my game on July 10th. It’s July 18th now and that means I have 82 days left, holy cow!
I’m learning from you to not wait till the last 30 to do something with it š heheheheheheeh.
So, times ticking! How’s it going, you getting to testing yet?
