Looks like TorquePowered is shutting down. The news came out of the blue for the employees and at this point there are more questions than answers about what’s happening.
Even though I never created a full game with Torque Game Builder, I always intended to do that. It was the best tool I’d found for doing cross-platform 2D games. (For mobile devices I’m a convert of Corona SDK.)
They’re looking for a buyer for Torque so maybe the software won’t go away completely. If no buyer is found it would be awesome if they’d open-source the code base so the community could take over and continue development.

Cool, it looks like they found a buyer and GarageGames is back in business. The two biggest (huge) changes they made were to scale back a bit — Torque3D, Torque2D (Torque Game Builder), and iTorque2D only — and to drop the price to $99 for each, source included. Way cool!
Are they getting better performance now?
