This is it, D-Day has arrived on the 2D game development scene with the release of Unity version 4.3.
While the preview videos looked pretty good, we’ll have to play around and see how good the 2D workflow is. As long as it’s “good enough” then I think other 2D tools better make sure they have something of real value that Unity doesn’t also bring to the table.
While everybody likes to say, “Use the best tool for the job!” in reality often the best tool is the one with which you’re most familiar, even if tool X might have a better widget for some specific purpose.
Unity has just given game developers another reason to become familiar with their game dev tool.
